Selection Process

Grant applicants may either apply directly or be nominated by a community member or educator. 

Evaluation criteria include:

  • Demonstrated community need
  • Program readiness and sustainability
  • Potential for meaningful educational impact

Grant Disbursement

  • Funding Cycles:
    • Applications are reviewed quarterly
    • Grants are awarded twice annually - Spring and Fall
    • Grants are given in the form of Penguin Pottery account credit
    • Credits can be used on www.PenguinPottery.com
    • In the future we plan to extend these credits to be used with Penguin Pottery partner distributors
  • Recipient Agreements include:
    • A clear use-of-funds clause
    • Reporting expectations, including photos, outcome summaries, and feedback from students or educators

Reporting & Transparency

Public Reporting

Each year, Penguin Pottery will release a Year-End Impact Report, which includes:

  • Total value of grants donated to programs 
  • Number of schools and programs supported
  • Funds granted per program
  • Testimonials, quotes, and photography from recipients
  • Goals and growth plans for the following year
Internal Records
  • Full archive of grant applications and scoring rubrics
  •  Detailed financial records of fund use
  • Follow-up documentation from each funded program
Legal & Ethical Standards
  • The Penguin Fund is wholly self-funded by Penguin Pottery LLC and is not structured as a separate nonprofit organization
  • No external donations are solicited or accepted at this time
  • All public messaging related to the fund adheres to Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines regarding cause-related marketing
  • No third-party organization will be featured in marketing or promotional materials without a formal written agreement
